Board Game Storage Tools
Board game storage tools help turn shelf dimensions and box sizes into practical plans. Start with the shelf-fit calculator before buying a cabinet, cube unit, storage bin, or separate oversized zone.

Board Game Shelf-Fit Calculator
Estimate how many common or custom board game boxes fit in a shelf, cube, cabinet, or closet zone with clearance, multiple shelves, reserved slots, warnings, and storage recommendations.

Use the box size chart before choosing a reference box, the storage decision chart when the result points to several storage styles, and the inventory template when a collection needs sorting before measuring.
How to use the tools page
Measure the inside of the shelf, not the outside furniture dimensions. Width, height, and depth should come from the usable space where boxes will sit. If a cabinet has hinges, shelf pins, trim, or sliding doors, subtract that obstruction before using the calculator.
Then measure the largest game box in the group. A single oversized title can decide whether vertical storage works. If the largest box does not fit comfortably, plan a separate zone for it instead of forcing every game into one shelf type.
Planner notes for small homes
Small-home storage works best when a tool result becomes a limit. If the calculator says a shelf fits nine standard boxes, reserve one slot for finger space or future rotation. A shelf that is mathematically full can still feel frustrating if every game needs two hands to remove.
Use the result as a planning estimate, not a promise. Board game boxes vary by publisher, lids bow over time, and inserts can make boxes close unevenly. The guides below explain the tradeoffs before you buy furniture or move a collection into a damp room.
